Firefighters and Coastguard Rescue Teams have been in action in Seaview after a dog found itself stuck on rocks this evening (Friday).
1 Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service appliance from Ryde attended the scene at Seaview Esplanade at just after 18:20.
Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams were also called to assist in the incident, after fears that the adventurous Jack Russel was stuck on a cliff, but were stood down shortly after.
Firefighters retrieved the dog – which was in fact stuck on rocks on the shoreline – and returned it to its grateful owners. The dog was then passed onwards to a vet to be checked over after its ordeal.
Teams have now stood down from the incident.
UPDATED @ 22:00 – As part of a separate incident this evening, Ventnor and The Needles Coastguard Rescue Teams were tasked to reports of a dog over the cliff near Chale Bay.
The teams were stood down enroute after the dog was found safe and well by its owners.

Pleased to hear that both dogs are safe & well. Owners really need to pay more attention to what their dogs are getting up to. And yes, I have two dogs.
As a dog owner myself, there are dangers out there, so people should not just let their dogs run around thinking they can go and do ‘whatever they like’. Dogs MUST be put on a lead when walking near cliff edges……..common sense really. Glad both doggies were ok.
Sorry i cannot understand why these morons do not keep their dogs on lead
