Red Funnel has announced a string of cancellations on its hi-speed Red Jet service tomorrow (Saturday).
A technical issue with one of the vessels has led to 8 sailings being cancelled for 7th August.
The 07:35, 08:55, 10:15 and 11:35 Red Jet sailings from Southampton have been pulled alongside the 08:15, 09:35, 10:55 and 12:15 from West Cowes.
It’s unclear at this stage what exactly has caused the disruption to service and whether any further cancellations will be announced.
The cross-Solent operator apologises for any inconvenience to your journey.
UPDATE SATURDAY @ 19:45 – Red Funnel has announced that its Red Jet service has been suspended for the rest of the day due to staff shortage.

Bound to be pandemic related, either that or the ticket collector called in sick.
Two words …. fixed link
One word…..boring!
One word for you… backward!
How can in the 21st century can we have such a sorry excuse for a cross Solent service? Every service we have is an unmitigated disaster, poor service, unreliable, cancelled crossings, over-priced, they are all a total mess. Time for these out of touch profit driven parasites to be drummed out of business.
good luck swimming to the mainland and how are you going to eat or drive your car – all fuel and food comes over by ferry
They have now cancelled all remaining red jets for today !! This time due to a vital member of staff not being at work ! Excuse after excuse. Something need to be done about this absolute joke of a company.
What can be done? Nothing, because they are privately owned and answer to no one. The government have looked into them before. A fixed link is the only answer to these constant ferry delays and cancellations, so if you don’t support a link, don’t moan about the delays and cancellations, as they will always happen.
