Red Funnel has updated its website with the latest information relating to face coverings on public transport following the Government’s last-minute changes over the weekend.
Notable changes to the official guidance includes more specific information about who may be exempt from wearing face coverings, now including children under the age of 11.
The updated guidance also allows for the consumption of food and beverages, if passengers deem it necessary/unavoidable, whilst travelling.
Furthermore, the revisions say that public transportation staff do not need to wear face coverings, and are included in the exemptions list. However Red Funnel’s current internal policy still requires staff to wear face coverings as part of PPE requirements, when in specific customer-facing roles.
The sales of face coverings have commenced at Red Funnel terminals and 100% of the net proceeds of all sales (profits) will be donated to the operator’s 2020 ‘Charities of the Year’ – Monkey Haven (LEAF Foundation) and Daisy Chains IW, which are both in urgent need of funding to carry on the important work they are doing on the Island.
Fran Collins, CEO, Red Funnel said:
“We’re continuing to do our best to respond to all updates to government guidance as quickly as we can.
“We would like to thank all of our customers for their patience as we work hard to adapt to changes in government requirements and to ensure that all of our staff are up to speed. We will continue to encourage all of our customers to wear a face covering in line with the new legislation and to remind everyone that the rules are there for the collective safety and wellbeing of all on board.”

Well that’s a bit clearer.
I’m still not travelling off the island, not safe enough yet for me.
What an absolute joke! You have to wear a mask, but if you need to drink or eat then you can,lol . They are just taking the piss even more out of you sheep lol. And you trust these liars? Lol
Couldn’t agree more mr justice ,,, they want people’s money
So all people have to do is buy a snack and make it last an hour…!
People should not be able to buy food or drink on ferries because it is not a take-away, the food is being purchased and eaten on site (the ferry) so therefore should not be allowed. So people cannot even hold off stuffing there faces or having a drink for 45 minutes, just take your own and consume in your car before you board the ferry.
Are they selling food and drink on the ferries then? That has changed from Saturday if so as I travelled over and all the food outlets on the ferry were closed. The rules about coverings were not in place then but distancing was being observed well by passengers and stuff on my journeys.
*staff!
Iam not an Islander but make four trips a year to the Island. I come from a low risk area like the island is. It would be far better to do temperature cheeks on people entering the Island than all these rules and regulations. Keep the Island safe.
CONFUSED
You are ment to be! Why? So you won’t know what’s law and what isn’t, so because most people are law abiding folk, they will do what ever is said, without question, and most of it isn’t law, social distancing, look how they lied about that, gave out 9000 fines, then couldn’t in force because it wasn’t law. So answer? Question everything the liars (government) and media say.
would you not know if you had a temperature?
