Queensgate Foundation Primary School in East Cowes have been very busy winning the Sainsbury’s-sponsored KiteMark award for the second year in a row.
Queensgate has once again been awarded the Gold Standard Kitemark for the PE provision and competition. As a school, a commitment to regular PE lessons had to be shown alongside a range of activities throughout the year, as well as a variety of extra-curricular clubs and competitive fixtures.
Next year, the school will be going for the hat trick so high standards and expectations with further development will need to be demonstrated.
At present, Queensgate offers a range of clubs from running and football to badminton and tri- golf. The school enters as many competitions at Key Stage 2 as possible. The school has recently purchased another minibus to enable pupils to travel to the as many fixtures as possible.
Headteacher Mrs Samantha Sillito said:
“This is a fantastic achievement and the whole school should be very proud.
“It has been a huge effort by all the children, adults and visiting coaches to achieve this award and be the first school on the Isle of Wight to achieve this honour”.
