The Police and Crime Commissioner, Donna Jones, will be holding her latest public Q&A session with Chief Constable Scott Chilton next week.
COPS (Commissioner’s Oversight of Policing Services) will be live-streamed on the PCC’s official Facebook page at 18:00 on Monday (14th August).
The PCC has a statutory role to hold the Chief Constable to account on the performance of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary on behalf of the public, and this live social media event is an opportunity to do this on a regular basis.
PCC Donna Jones said:
“As your Commissioner, I provide a critical link between the police and the public across our two counties and the COPS events allow for valuable scrutiny to take place so that policing standards match what the public rightly expect and deserve.
“The Chief Constable announced a few months ago significant changes to the way the Constabulary is run with more emphasis on bringing police officers closer to communities to drive up police visibility and drive down crime rates.
“I’m looking forward to putting your questions to the Chief Constable because this direct engagement and oversight is essential so that we can all work together to provide effective and robust policing across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.”
Questions can be submitted in advance via an online form at COPS: LIVE Q&A August 2023 or the public can ask questions during the live Facebook session. A recording will be made available to view for anyone who can’t watch the event live.

I’m sure there’s somebody who’ll want to ask questions about a van parked on Great Preston Road with no MOT.
Why worry approx 1/4 of the Island are driving around with NO MOT
Who cares if a vehicle is being driven with No MOT.
Maybe the owner of the vehicle is skint and cannot afford to have it Mot’d
If the Authorities allow it, who cares.
Only problem if an accident occurs the drivers insurance will be void.
Why do the Police let cyclists break the law by cycling on a pavement? The police do absolutely nothing to protect us pedestrians from these dangerous cyclists!
Many cyclists also cycle on the wrong side of the Road.
There is no Law and Order on the Island.
I even saw 2 coppers on bikes a few weeks ago cycling along Sandown High Street
side by side talking holding up the traffic
‘Totally clueless’
Most of the time the Police are powerless to do much because since countless and endless mass immigration which has swelled our prison population, meaningful sentences can never again be given by our courts to prevent our own committing crimes.
The Police like anyone in authority can never dare tell it how it is now the race card power has eclipsed common sense and freedom of speech. Should they ever dare speak the truth their promotion or job would disappear.
Hence the silence but deep damage continues unabated
So
Nearly every answer will the the same:
“we rely on the public to inform us what and where the hotspots for crime and ASB are, and we respond to this in a variety of ways with a multi-layered response across a wide remit of relevant units. You may not see an immediate response presence, but rest assured we are working behind the scenes responding to your concerns, collating information, and we will be taking affirmative action. You will see in the data in time that our actions are making a difference to the incidence of crime and ASB in your neighbourhood communities”.
Why are nine out off ten police officers corrupt ?
Question shouldn’t the CC hold the PCC to account, what does the PCC do ? And when is the PCC role up for re-election and end the Me Me Me show
It is about time the PCC was abolished and let the Chief Constables run their own force. How can someone with no police experience control the running of the police? There never has been and never should be any place for politics in the police service. Get rid of the PC’s and that released £millions to be used to recruit police officers.
How much is your tax free lump sum when you retire early & then re-employ as a law & order consultant please?
Are all officers specifically trained in The Macarena especially for community events?
And what about those us who don’t use Fakebook?
I’m sure someone will mention the unnecessary and institutional abuse committed by the police against the public and those in their care/custody!!
I struggle to see the benefit of each county having a PCC. Indeed, the Chief Inspector should be managing their force and have the last say. What value does a PCC offer? All I see is someone being paid mighty bucks for telling us how wonderful they are, reinventing schemes that haven’t worked in the past. I’d instead have their salary be used for proper coppers on the street. Oh, and not those wokey ones; decent coppers.
Bet he’s a mason.
Funny handshake time.
Why are vehicles allowed to park on Double Yellow lines opposite the
Premier Inn in Sandown.
Outside Sandown Pier and Napoleons Reach?
AND NO PARKING TICKETS ARE GIVEN OUT
Yet if a vehicle goes over their ticket time in a car park they get a parking ticket!
Vehicles drive erratically at speed along Beachfield Road in Sandown.
Speed Camera’s are desperately required on the Island, Islandwide.
Why don’t you support legalising the illicit drugs like they do in Canada and elsewhere. ?
If you had been to serious and fatal accidents as I have and seen the aftermath, then having to break the news to loved ones, you wouldn’t even be asking that question.
Why isn’t every police car on the IOW equipped with ANPR? You’ve got £600K to WASTE on druggies. Do something useful with it so that old bill can catch more uninsured/disqual/no mot drivers.
They could not catch the common cold
They were good during Lockdown moving people from benches who were
innocently enjoying some free time overlooking the sea.
LET’S NOT FORGET MP’S WERE PARTYING THEMSELVES OR ATTENDING BARBEQUES
WHAT DID THEY DO ABOUT THAT!
When are they actually going to do something about all the drink and drug drivers on the island
And also when are they actually going to respond to a crime instead of never turning up
Why are vehicles allowed to drive at speed Islandwide
and Fcuk all gets done about it.
How many more police officers are going to be arrested before you realise there is a problem in the force?
