A fire in a block of flats in Ryde Town Centre has seen fire crews respond this lunchtime (Monday).
2 appliances from Ryde were mobilised to the scene at 12:40 at Brigstocke Terrace on St Thomas’ Street after reports of a fire inside the block of flats, however crews arrived to find the fire had already been extinguished by those present.
It is thought that the fire was spotted by a construction worker, currently undertaking renovations to the grand old building.
Crews remained at the scene for a short while after making sure the fire was fully extinguished.
The construction workers name was James Amor- a true hero!!!!

The fire was spotted by a painter and all in Brigstocke Terrace are sincerely grateful to him and to Blue Watch from Ryde Fire Brigade who were very professional, caring and kind.
james,. now also is that worker who put out yet another fire during a major refurbishment like at the time windsor castle. Please let us hope Buckingham palace stays safe, during its upgrade.!!!!
