The Earl Mountbatten Hospice (EMH) has earned a presidential seal of approval.
Nan McCreadie, the first female President of Rotary International Britain and Ireland, recently visited the hospice to see facilities at its John Cheverton Centre.
Nan and other Rotary members were welcomed by Becky McGregor, Clinical Centre Manager who showed the group around the JCC.
Becky said:
“The group was really surprised to see a number of essential and beneficial services for patients, their families and friends, which they hadn’t realised were available.
“From the dedicated diversional therapies room where patient art was on display, to the hairdressing services available for all visiting, the group was really impressed was really impressed with the range of services and activities we offer at the JCC.”
The hospice enjoys a strong relationship with the Rotary movement and Cathy Tyler, Director of Resources at EMH, recently attended the Isle of Wight Celebration Dinner where she was presented with a cheque for £1071.57 from Vectis Sunrise Rotary Club. The money was raised through Rotarians providing catering services at events including the Carisbrooke Walk the Wight 2013 check-in.
Cathy said:
“The Hospice receives tremendous support from all rotary clubs on the Island throughout the year and our main fundraising event Walk the Wight is supported by many of the groups in marshaling roles and the great catering service offered by Vectis Sunrise Rotary Club.
“We are all grateful for their continued support of patient care at the hospice.”
Many Rotary clubs will be marshaling the 26.5 mile walk on Sunday 11th May this year and will help to ensure a smooth and safe event for the 10,500 walkers it is hoped will attend on the day.
