A postie that rolled their Royal Mail onto its side on a single-track country lane in Adgestone this morning (Tuesday) has escaped injury.
Police were called to Upper Road, near the junction with Well Lane, at 11:26 to reports of a van on its side.
Officers from the Isle of Wight’s Roads Policing Unit arrived on scene to find a Royal Mail van completely blocking the carriageway as a result of colliding with the verge on the nearside.
Recovery of the crashed Fiat has been arranged.
The road is currently blocked in both directions with motorists urged to use Lower Road as an alternative route.
Locals may have a wait for their post today…

Ha ha ha… what was postie doing ? Rolling a ciggie.. checking the phone, looking at the scenery… or maybe doing a scratch card?? Obvious was not paying attention…. undue care and attention… Postie be late today !!!
Or maybe, none of the above. I’m sure you’re perfect in every way, and have never made an error of judgement (if indeed that’s what it was). Of course, as always, you have no idea whatsoever. Get a life!
Oh look a know it all
First class driving ha ha.
Hope the driver was okay ..
Hope the Postie is alright, they do a 1st Class job.
Second class driving..
Not surprised at all the way they tear around. Like to see them ask for a pay rise now
What’s a pay rise got to do with this
Royal fail at it’s finest
Did he STRIKE something??
Come in Postman Pat and cat.
I hope he/she is alright
Can’t park there mate!
Why do people feel the need to make jokes about something like this? It’s a man/woman doing their job, providing a service to people, and they have an accident – none of us know the reason, could have swerved to avoid an animal, a cyclist, anything – and people make fun of it.
Hope the postie is ok.
Catherine sadly there are a load of idiots on the Island who lack brains,
hence their childish comments.
Hopefully the Postie is well, they have a difficult job, out in all weather’s.
They deserve a pay rise, many people would not want their working conditions.
Yeah, really tough job lmao
Poor old Postman Splat
A gust of wind clip the bank ends upside down, hope postman is ok out earning his living!
We live in a clown world
Hope the postman wasn’t hurt, such a narrow road surprised they sent such a large van out.
Was the road not wide enough for your tiny van
