A yellow weather warning for fog has been issued for the Isle of Wight this morning (Wednesday), with things set to get progressively worse this evening and overnight into Thursday morning.
Forecasters at IW Met Service say that coastal mist and fog has developed as expected in the West and South of the Island, but this will likely lift into low cloud for a time, before settling on Western, Southern and perhaps some Eastern coastal areas once again through this afternoon and into the early evening.
The Solent should see little in the way of foggy conditions today, but fog will perhaps affect the far Western Solent at times later.
Later this evening and overnight Islanders are warned that the fog will become a lot more widespread and extensive, spreading to more inland parts at times, as well as the Solent.
Very poor visibility on the water around affected coastal areas can be expected throughout today, with very poor visibility across many parts of the Island overnight.
Delays to cross-Solent travel can be expected.
The warning is in force until 10:00 on Thursday 22nd June.
