Hampshire Constabulary has launched an urgent appeal for help in locating 84-year-old Rita Hiorns from Shanklin, who has been missing since late this morning (Sunday).
The 84-year-old was last seen near Westhill Drive, off Westhill Road in the town, at around 11:00.
Rita is described as being white, approximately 5ft 2ins, with auburn hair. She is believed to be wearing a white woollen top, grey trousers, black shoes and carrying a brown shoulder bag.
WightSAR – the Island’s voluntary search and team team – have been called out to help the ongoing search efforts.
A statement from Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“Rita is considered vulnerable and together with her family we are concerned for her welfare.
“We are now asking for the public’s assistance in locating her.
“Please keep a look out for Rita and if you see her, or think you’ve seen her since she went missing, call us immediately on 101 quoting 44220370586.”

UPDATE @ 14:55 – Rita has been found safe and well on the Route 3 Southern Vectis bus after being noticed by a member of the public. She is now with the Police.
