UPDATED: The National Police Air Service Helicopter is assisting officers on the ground with an ongoing incident in East Cowes this morning (Saturday), which has also prompted the attendance of forensic investigators.
Several Police vehicles have been in and around the town since 10:35 with the Police helicopter arriving in the skies above around 15 minutes later.
The incident appears to centre around the Norris Castle estate where forensic investigators have arrived in the past few minutes.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to comment on what has led to such a response.
Norris Castle is currently undergoing restoration with plans in place to open as a hotel in the future.
UPDATE @ 11:52 – 3 Police vehicles have now left the Norris estate, with an unknown number remaining within the grounds of the private land.
UPDATE @ 12:31 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that 3 men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary. They have been taken to Newport Police Station for questioning.
Police were alerted to reports of a burglary at 10:23 this morning.
UPDATE @ 21:55 – It has been confirmed this evening that the 3 men were located on the roof of Norris Castle by a local dog unit.
The van they travelled to the area in was found nearby.
UPDATE MONDAY – A 37-year-old man and a 24-year-old man from Thatcham and a 28-year-old man from Ecchinswell have been released from Police custody, but remain under investigation.
