UPDATED: A bus stop in Yarmouth has been cordoned off by Police as they investigate the circumstances surrounding an incident in the town.
5 Police cars and at least 2 ambulances responded to the scene on Bridge Road at around 23:00 tonight (Sunday).
An area adjacent to the ferry terminal is now being guarded by officers from Hampshire Constabulary, who are understood to be investigating an alleged assault.
At least 1 individual has sustained injuries as a result of the late night incident. They have been rushed to St Mary’s Hospital by Ambulance.
The incident comes less than 24 hours after a similar situation in Ryde, as first reported by Island Echo.
UPDATE MONDAY – It has been confirmed that a 27-year-old woman was conveyed to hospital last night suffering from a head injury.
A 29-year-old man from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. A 28-year-old woman from Totland Bay has also been arrested, but on suspicion of assault.
Both the man and woman remain in custody.
