UPDATED: Multiple Police units have descended on Northwood this afternoon (Thursday) where they have taken up position surrounding a residential property.

Officers are currently in attendance on Pallance Road just off the main Northwood to Cowes road.

3 Police cars, 2 vans and the unmarked Armed Response Unit were seen to be responding to the area at just gone midday.

UPDATE @ 14:28 – 10 units are now on scene, including 2 Armed Response vehicles and a dog handler.

It’s said that Police are in ‘discussions’ with a male in his 20s. The stand off has been ongoing for over 2 and a half hours.

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have deployed an officer to the incident. In addition, the National Police Air Service helicopter has been seen circling in the skies above Cowes.

Neighbours say that Police have visited the address on previous occasions.

Pallance Road remains open as normal.

UPDATE @ 15:33 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a man is refusing to come down from the roof of a shed.

The incident is ongoing.

UPDATE – Police have now withdrawn from Pallance Road following a safe conclusion to the incident.

No arrests have been made.
