Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault that took place in Shanklin early yesterday morning (Thursday) to come forward with information.
As first reported by Island Echo, officers were called to an assault on Regent Street at 00:40 during the early hours of Thursday. They were alerted by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
It has been confirmed that a 32 year-old man was taken to St Mary’s Hospital to be treated for a fractured eye socket and cheek bone, which required surgery.
An 18 year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He has been released from custody without charge and will face no further action.
Enquiries are ongoing, including reviewing CCTV in the area.
