38-year-old Piers Brazier has appeared at Crown Court and pleaded not guilty to murdering Newport man Scott Cooper in January of this year.
Brazier appeared at Winchester Crown Court this morning (Thursday) where he entered a plea of not guilty to 1 charge of murder.
The body of 33-year-old Scott Cooper was discovered in a flat on George Street, Ryde on 4th January this year, prompting a murder investigation to be launched. Forensic investigators spent 11 days at the scene in a bid to piece together the events that led to Scott’s death.
Hampshire Constabulary’s response to the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
The case will now go to trial on 27th June this year. Brazier has been remanded in custody in the meantime.
Earlier this week 4 people were arrested on suspension of conspiracy to murder. However, all 4 men have since been bailed pending further enquiries.
