UPDATE: A pedestrian has been involved in a collision with a car on The Mall between Newport and Carisbrooke this afternoon (Sunday).
According to reports, a blue car has collided with a pedestrian at the junction with Bedford Row.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are attending the incident alongside Police. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 16:30.
The road has been closed in both directions. Southern Vectis buses are diverting via Trafalgar Road until further notice.
UPDATE @ 17:20 – The road has reopened in both directions and buses have resumed a normal route.
The pedestrian, thought to be male, has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital with head injuries.
