63-year-old Keith Heselton has been sentenced to 24 years in prison after being found guilty of 8 non-recent child sex offences that took place in Shanklin.
In August 2021, it was reported to the Police that a girl under the age of 10 had been sexually abused between June 2005 and March 2006.
Following a thorough investigation, Heselton, now of Mulberry Mead in Whitchurch, Hampshire was charged with 9 offences.
On 3rd April this year, Heselton was found guilty at the Isle of Wight Crown Court of 8 offences following a trial, including 2 offences of raping a girl under 13, 2 offences of causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity – no penetration, 2 offences of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13, 1 of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching and 1 of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration.
Heselton was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday (12th June) to 24 years in prison, with a minimum term of 16 years, an additional 5-year license order, and a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Police Staff Investigator Louisa Parkin of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“The victim in this case, now a grown woman, has lived with the memory of this awful abuse for decades, I’m pleased we can give her the outcome the case deserved and finally some closure. I’d like to commend her bravery for coming forward and sticking with the investigation.
“We take all allegations of sexual abuse extremely seriously. We have specially trained teams that can investigate these kinds of offences and provide support to victims. If you have experienced these kinds of offences we can make a commitment to you that you will be heard and listened to, and your report will be believed. We are determined to put victims first and relentlessly pursue offenders, especially when investigating these kinds of cases”

there s no way he just started offending in 2005, when he was 45 years old – that bloke has probably been at this in his 20’s and 30’s as well – just the victims have never reported it.
Very good point, would have been good to hear from the police what the judge said about other offences when he was sentenced
What this and the other reports in the Press don’t tell you is that Heselton served 18 months for possession of Category A, B, and C pornographic images of children in 2018, and that he was convicted on 4 counts of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13 years in 1976; at that time he was 17, and the girl was 4 years old. These other offences were revealed in open court at his sentence hearing in Portsmouth.
Or earlier
Should have No minimal term should serve the whole 24 years!!! And private bits chopped off!! Disgusting beast.
So he’ll be out after 16 years then. Disgraceful.
But at least he’ll be close to 80yrs by then,if lives that long in prison. He’s destroyed his and others lives.
The Island seems to be a refuge for old perverts.
He lives in Whitchurch so presume he will be prisoned on mainland.
Another home grown nonce. Absconding to the mainland to hide from there sins.
Or maybe placed there after last release from prison for another simulator offence?
And another one! Realy is a good place to bring ya kids eh?
the police say….we can make a commitment to you that you will be heard and listened to, and your report will be believed.
I do hope that the police are equally as committed to believing the report from the person accused, when they say they are the victim of malicious lies, slander and deformation of character, when someone makes an accusation like this.
The police need to demonstrate impartiality to ensure that the public have confidence in their staunch support of “innocent until proven guilty”
I am all for these types of offenders being locked up, but not happy to see innocent adults being pursued as pervs, by police with no evidence to support it.
Islander – Such as?
Shame there isn’t an uninhabited Island we can’t send him to, doesn’t deserve to mix with human race, or be cosseted by our already stretched prison service.
He doesnt dezerve to live on some deserted island. He just doesnt deserve to live. Fullstop.
We must ask ourselves why didn’t the children involved feel they could tell their parents what had happend? Perhaps more time talking to kids is needed rather than equipping their bedrooms with the latest technology etc. It would be interesting to see how many parents actually sit at a table with their children and eat and discuss the days events and other things like many of us old ones did with our parents.
I know for a fact the parent listened and the Peterborough police were involved, also the parent tried hard once again many years later to convict this person but they got nowhere , very glad they have caught him now but it should have happened long ago to save many more young girls from him.
Vile git
hope his life ends before his sentence does
With a bit of luck, someone will do the world a favour and put it out of it’s misery. A condition of release for all these animals should be castration or stay locked up.
Shame his history of known offences weren’t known. What a very brave young lady to share her awful experiences.
