A suspected drugs overdose in a public toilet, saw Police, Fire and Paramedics respond to Lake yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).
At around 14:00, a member of the public discovered a man in need of medical attention within a toilet cubicle on New Road.
Such was the discovery, a call to 999 was made and firefighters from Shanklin were mobilised, shortly followed by an ambulance crew from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were notified and descended on the scene at around 15:00.
Officers kept guard whilst the casualty was taken to St Mary’s Hospital.
Emergency service personnel left the scene at around 17:00.

So, at 1400 a person was discovered needing medical assistance. Fire and Ambulance attended.
1 hour later the Police turned up.
2 hours later all emergency personnel left the scene.
What a complete waste of emergency personnel time.
Why are we even treating them in hospital? They will probably do it again.
If the individual can afford drugs, they can afford to foot some of the bill for their rescue!
What a disgusting thing to say. All human life is valuable. Addiction is a horrible disease that can take anyone. Imagine if someone wrote what you did about someone you love? Shame on you.
Don’t comment on what you don’t know anything about. Thats my brother and you don’t know his situation MUG
Most of us sincerely hope your brother makes a good recovery and gets the help he needs.
And you spent all that time writing vitriolic s**t. Moron
Yet you know nothing about the situation, you on about him having a drug issues, your name states you have alcohol problems, get off the internet you sad mindless piece of scrap! Keyboard warrior hiding behind a screen!
let’s hope he’s okay!
sick of reading these types of comments.
Well at least I agree with you. Waste of resources. Leaving nhs short for real non self inflicted issues. Hope all these do gooders don’t need an ambulance one day for heart attack or similar and theirs not one because of over dosers or someone threatening to jump off culver.
