Former nursery worker George Goodier has been jailed for sharing child sex abuse images of young children, similar in age to those he was caring for.
Goodier, of Grace Woodford Drive in East Cowes, previously entered guilty pleas to 3x possession of indecent images of children, 3x distributing indecent images of children and a single count of possession of extreme pornography – namely men and women having sex with dogs.
Appearing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court this morning (Friday), the shocking details of the case against the 24-year-old, described by the probation service as high-risk to the public, were laid bare.
Prosecutor Tim Devlin told the court that 806 category A images, 575 category B images and 204 category C images were found in Goodier’s possession. The former nursery worker was also caught distributing a total of 268 category A, 268 category B and 268 category C images.
Goodier was also found in possession of 143 images of disturbing animal pornography.
Shockingly, the court heard how at the time of the offending, Goodier was team leader at a local nursery specialising in the care of very young children, similar in age to those depicted in the photos he was hoarding and distributing.
Goodier was arrested at his home address on 3rd December 2024 and in subsequent searches of his devices Police found the aforementioned photos and videos. The court heard how some of the videos showed ‘baby boys’ being raped.
When interviewed by Police, Goodier admitted an interest in young boys and that he was ‘hoping he could stop himself before things came to court’.
Defending the 24-year-old, Jonathan Underhill, said that Goodier was not without his own difficulties and that he deserved maximum credit for his guilty pleas and ‘full and frank’ admission in interview.
The court heard how since his arrest, Goodier has taken steps to address his behaviour by seeking help from private and independent specialist counsellors. Mr Underhill added that Goodier knows he will never be allowed to work in the care industry again.
Handing down his sentence, Judge James Newton-Price said he would be ‘failing in his duty’ if he didn’t impose an immediate custodial sentence. He also went on to say that Goodier ‘knew better’ than to commit the offences and that he agreed with the probation service in that Goodier was a high risk of high harm to children.
Goodier, who brought a large holdall to court with his personal effects inside in anticipation of the sentence, was handed a 2-year prison term. He was also handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
PC Trudi May from the Internet Child Abuse Team said:
“Goodier very clearly poses a serious risk to children and I am very glad to see him put behind bars, as well as being subject to strict conditions when he is released.
“Goodier worked in a trusted position around children and I am relieved that we have been able to bring his crimes to light and ensure that he never works with children again.
“Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is committed to keeping the children in our communities safe and I hope that this investigation evidences how seriously we treat offences of this nature.”
What arse gave him a job caring for kids,is a question needing to asked. Of course we will never know, it will all be covered up like all the rest of the corruption going on
My youngest was in his care at the nursery. You never know anymore who we are leaving our children with all day.
Some one as been sent to prison, that’s a first.
Stick him in general population, they will love him in there,he wouldnt last a week
Vile creature! Deserves everything coming to him.
Paedophile, how was he even allowed to work with small children! disgusting thing bet his parents are so proud to have raised someone who wants to hurt children? Lock him up throw away the key. Makes me sick to my stomach.
Let’s hope when he is released he dosen’t end up working with animals
Permanently ruined his own life at 24 – this will haunt him for the rest of his days – death will be his only escape.
whilst he faces fear in prison, he will face an even greater fear once the security of a cell and officers is gone, upon release. Then he will live in fear of the day his front door is daubed with the word – nonce
