The Isle of Wight’s first-ever Dalmatian Rally was held at Yaverland beach on National Dally Rally Day last Thursday (24th February).
National Dally Rally Day is 1 day every year in which as many groups as possible across the UK walk together to celebrate the anniversary of the first Dally Rally and hold collections to support Dalmatian charities. There are now a total of 46 Dally Rally groups across the UK.
Altogether, more than 605 Dalmatians took part in National Dally Rally Day 2022.
Isle of Wight Rally organiser, Donna Jones from Freshwater, said:
“We had a total of 14 dogs in attendance, including 4 puppies. We shall be running further Dally Rallies, and all dalmatians are welcome. I’d attended a couple of rallies before when I lived on the mainland. Now, I have a 7-month-old Dalmatian pup, Murphy.
“He is 7 months old; he’s our third Dalmatian. The previous two have been rescues; when we lost our last old boy, we decided to get our first ever puppy. I just love their appearance, character (they smile – it’s known as a dally grin), and the fact you don’t usually see that many around
“I wanted to be able to meet up with other Dalmatian owners over here, but sadly on the day my puppy was poorly, so I attended without him. Just from setting up the group, I’d already had play dates with s couple of other local owners I didn’t previously know.
“The Isle of Wight Dally Rally was fundraising for DAS Dalmatians, who offer sanctuary space for problem, elderly, deaf or dalmatians at risk of being put to sleep. We plan to hold our next Dally Rally at the end of April.”

Absolutely fantastic!
Let’s hope they all ‘picked up ‘
Most people do at Yaverland, it’s the horse owners that don’t.
