FYTbus – a local bus service operating in the West Wight – will be launching a new bookable service to more destinations next month.
The local minibus service already runs 2 regular morning routes around the West Wight and from 18th September they will add a 3rd route on weekday afternoons using a new way of travelling by bus.
Seats can be booked on their new electric motor anywhere in the Freshwater, Yarmouth and Totland areas, using a special app that makes use of Dynamic Demand Responsive Transport or DDRT, a growing trend in community transport. The app is called FYT and SCIA booking
The new service runs from Bouldnor, through Yarmouth, Freshwater, Freshwater Bay, Totland and on to Alum Bay and The Needles.
Details can be found on The FYTbus website or on their printed timetables, which also include details of their other regular routes, hospital and shopping trips and special offers.
To compliment the new electric bus, they plan to install photovoltaic panels to the roof of their depot, and store the electricity this provides for use in the bus.
