The Island’s largest arts and crafts centre, Arreton Barns, has a few new faces for 2021 and with free entry and onsite parking it’s a hotspot destination on the Island this summer.
At the end of May, the Barns will say goodbye to long term maker Sally Moss, Ceramic Crafts. After nearly 20 years Sally has decided to enjoy a better work-life balance, and as a keen walker she’s strapping on her boots and exploring the UK and further afield.
Leaving a gap at Arreton Barns, the team is ready to welcome Thomas P Cochran. A talented silversmith, Thomas creates a host of stunning jewellery inspired by the sea. Each piece in the collection is made using the ‘lost wax casting’ method, a technique that has been used for centuries.
Jane Gibbs, owner of Arreton Barns commented:
“A true artisan, Thomas is a perfect fit for Arreton Barns and we’re excited to see him and what he will produce at his new home with us.”
There’s not just 1, but 2 new artisans joining the team. Get set for a monstrously good model maker. Set and Production Designer Anthony is bringing Creaturama to the space above The Corn Exchange. An amazingly talented artist, Anthony has created models for stage and the small and big screen, including Jurassic World.
Jane Giibbs continues:
“To have someone of Anthony’s calibre on board at Arreton Barns is amazing. He settled in last week and it’s looking great upstairs. We’re really looking forward to seeing his workshops come to life and we know visitors will really enjoy getting creative too.”
Arreton Barns is open 7 days a week, with the shops and pub opening from 10:00 daily.
