The National Trust is looking to partner with local independent mobile catering outlets to offer light refreshments at some of the local beauty spots here on the Isle of Wight.
Based at Culver Down, Brighstone Forest or Freshwater Bay Clifftop, visitors could soon be offered a tempting range of hot and cold drinks, cakes, hot snacks, sandwiches and ice cream.
Currently, the only refreshment offered at a National Trust site is at Compton Car Park on Military Road.
A spokesperson for National Trust Isle of Wight has said:
“We are particularly interested in building relationships with like-minded businesses who have sustainability and a strong environmental ethos at their heart. If you offer an innovative food experience with welcoming, friendly service then we would love to hear from you.”
Licences to start as soon as possible and run all through the Summer until 31st October 2023.

Poaching the takings from local businesses and pubs, tea rooms, cafe’s etc
Stick to looking after the little remaining green spaces and buildings you have been given for free.
The National Trust are an absolute joke. Ruining what are supposed to be conservation areas by enticing hundreds of people to traipse around them, disturbing precious wildlife and nesting birds, all so they can make money. They should be ashamed of themselves.
The one at Compton Bay Car Park are charging
£3.20 for 1 scoop of ice cream and the scoop is so small.
Also I saw one of the members of staff standing at the front of the van
Vaping and the Vape is going all over the show.
Maybe that is why they are so expensive, they are charging for the Vape smell
on the ice cream.
It’s a no for me.

What I do to beat extorninate ice cream and coffee charges.
When taking the grandchildren to Compton I usually stop off at a local
Shop and buy a box of Magnums, much cheaper and take my own soft drinks and
Hot drinks.
These establishments are stinging holidaymakers and locals.
You can already get light refreshments at Culver Down. There is a kiosk/cafe that sells hot/cold drinks; ice creams and light snacks etc. If a mobile catering outlet were to open, it would take away much of their business.
