UPDATED: Officers from the National Crime Agency (NCA) have detained 1 individual as part of an ongoing investigation into the importation of blank firing weapons.
A property on Dover Street in Ryde was raided this afternoon and 1 person was arrested as a result.
A spokesperson for the NCA has tonight said:
“We can confirm NCA officers carried out a search today at a property in Dover Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight, as part of ongoing investigation linked to the importation of a blank firing weapon which is a prohibited item.
“One individual has been arrested and is currently being questioned by officers.
“No further information is available at this time.”
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – The man, from Ryde, has been released without charge but remains under investigation.
A NCA spokesperson has said:
“A male from Ryde was arrested and has since been released under investigation.
“No further information is available at this time.”
