Coastguards were called out to investigate the discovery of a RIB washed ashore on the beach in East Cowes yesterday morning (Sunday).
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to the shoreline between Osborne Bay and Castle Point at 07:35 after a member of the public reported the find.
Enquiries were conducted to establish the circumstances in which the Williams Jet RIB – worth in excess of £20,000 – had ended up aground on the beach, with no sign of any crew.
With the assistance of Cowes Harbour Master, the vessel was towed to Sheppards Marina in Cowes.

That’s an expensive bit of kit! Wont be a mystery for long il bet.
If nobody claims it can I have it?
Claimed, sorry!
I’ll have it if no one else claims it
You found it, thanks.
Forgot where I parked it
I assume that this is outside the area that was searched for the man in the water – but could the two be connected?
Does it have a French number plate?
It’s mine – detached itself from the back of my Sunseeker. So sorry, I’m getting in touch today… no idea it caused so much concern! We did worry where it might end up though.
So no connection to the missing person Sunday afternoon evening?
