The main road between Ryde and Newport has been closed by Police as a result of a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist.
2 fire crews from Ryde are currently on scene near the junction with Cemetery Road, where a motorcyclist is laying injured in the carriageway.
It is thought that a car has been involved in the incident, with the motorcyclist becoming trapped underneath the vehicle. They have since been freed and are being tended to by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Police have closed the road in both directions.
UPDATE – The road has now re-opened in both directions.
The female motorcyclist has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, but thankfully she has escaped any serious injury.
Fire crews were quickly re-mobilised from this road traffic collision to a large fire in Haylands – just a few minutes’ drive from Binstead.

Wait for it
And were either of them going to the shops or working? If not fine them for being out. Why you should not be going out for a drive because it’s nice. The emergency services do not have the capacity to be dealing with this.
Know the facts before shooting your mouth off!
Sorry to burst your bubble John but one was coming from work and the other was starting their shift as a KEY worker!
I hope everyone is alright.
Hope the rider is ok
