A Newport motorcyclist has been disqualified from driving after clocking 100mph in a 40mph zone, jumping a red light, and riding with a hinged number plate designed to avoid detection.
35-year-old Nathan Larder, of Prospect Road, committed the offences on 21st April this year while riding his Yamaha motorcycle between Newport and Cowes.
A hearing at Aldershot Justice Centre on 29th September heard how Larder was caught doing 100mph on Horsebridge Hill, more than twice the speed limit. He was also caught jumping a red light on nearby Medina Way.
Larder admitted both offences and also admitted driving with a modified rear numberplate fitted with a hinge, allowing it to flip up and obscure the registration mark.
He was handed a 56-day disqualification and fined £400. The court also imposed £130 in costs and a £160 victim surcharge.
A charge of failing to stop when requested by a uniformed constable was withdrawn.

To break the speed limit by so much should be a
lifetime ban.
Plod need to wait along the Military Road with a speed gun,
everyday numpty motorcyclists cycle at the speed of light
along the Military Road.
I bet you’d have been one of the guards in Nazi Germany.
No I wouldn’t, but I don’t like uneducated
lawless numpties who don’t mind killing
themselves putting other persons at risk.
This Motorcyclist needs banging up!
Funny how I rarely see that given that I travel along there a lot
I suggest a trip to Specsavers.
I don’t understand why there are no speed cameras?
It would absolutely help calm all this speeding.
It would surely make some money too.
Why are there no speed cameras here?
Anyone would think the persons responsible for
running the island want speeding to take place.
Maybe the persons running the island will suffer
an accident by allowing speeding then they might
finally act!
In my world prevention is better than cure!
The people in-charge of the islands roads, if there are any, need a kick up the ass. These people have a very responsible job which entails keeping road users safe. That is not happening. Instead of a police officer having to knock on someone’s door to tell them that their nearest and dearest has been killed, they should have to do this several times, it might just shake them up to actually do something positive. take note, it is NOT the fault of the police, it is the fault of motorists who should know better.
The island needs a mayor like Khan
HE WILL STOP SPEEDING!!
Ban definitely not long enough. If not for life should be for years. Motorcycle should have been confiscated and then only permitted to drive least powerful machines if ever allowed to drive again.
The problem with speed cameras are they don’t actually achieve anything as all people do is slow down then speed up again it would not save lives as been proven on some motorways same amount of deaths before and after cameras fitted
