UPDATED: A collision between a car and a motorcycle has resulted in the closure of East Hill Road in Ryde tonight (Wednesday).
The incident has occurred at the top of the hill near the junction with West Hill Road. Police are on scene and have closed the road in both directions.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash, which has involved a Volvo and an unknown motorcycle, at around 17:45.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have been called to attend to a injured motorcyclist but paramedics are still en-route to the scene at this time.
Traffic is heavy in and around Ryde tonight due to the closure of St John’s Road for roadworks, with East Hill Road being used as a main ‘ring road’ around the closure.
UPDATE @ 18:15 – An ambulance crew have now arrived on scene and are assessing the injured individual.
The road remains closed.
UPDATE @ 19:30 – East Hill Road has now re-opened.
The Male motorcyclist has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be serious.
