Engineers are working to restore power to more than 1,200 homes in the PO37 area – Shanklin.
It was just before 18:00 – just as Islanders sat down for dinner – that supplies were lost to properties in the Shanklin area.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks says that a total of 94 postcode areas remain without electricity, with an estimated repair time of 23:00 tonight.
The worst hit area is Luccombe.
UPDATE FRIDAY – Around 100 properties remain without power this morning, more than 14 hours after supplies were cut.
A total of 11 postcode areas in the Luccombe area are expected to be without electricity until 16:00 this afternoon.
