Ferry operator Red Funnel has cancelled more sailings today (Sunday) amid staffing issues.
The 17:00 from Southampton as well as the 15:30 and 18:30 from Cowes have been cancelled by the cross-Solent operator due to critical crew availability.
This follows on from the cancellation of the 14:00 from Southampton earlier this afternoon where customers, who had been at the terminal since well before 14:00, were asked to wait until the 15:00 sailing.
Customers booked on the cancelled crossings are still being asked to arrive at the terminal in good time where they will be placed on the next available crossing.

Shame the four armed officers weren’t on the pay list. Perhaps between capturing all the pirates terrorists and illegals they could swab the decks whilst awaiting avoidance of carnage
Of course. What a surprise. NOT. Usual sh*t service from the usual sh*t company.
The Brexit gifts continue to flow!
All those polite, professional and delightful Europeans that used to grace RF’s ships and Red Jets for so many years have all but frittered away.
It is has got nothing to do with Brexit more to do with the lazy British who don’t want to work.
All to do with too much tax credits being paid to anyone who has children so long as they work minimum hours, AND they DO.
For they know IF they work more than the min, then pound for pound their free or very cheap rent AND council tax is cut, as would be their child tax and working tax credits payment.
So, to almost all who have children, UNLESS earning over 50k, when tax credits cease, it NO LONGER pays to work more than the minimum 16 hrs for a so called single parent or 20 for a couple now.
Thats why we are where we are in the UK
Think you need to go back to school as your grasp of basic mathematics is sadly lacking if you think someone is better off on tax credits than earning £49k a year.
Quick check using the Gov tax credit calculator: Someone earning £50k a year full time drops to 16 hours loses £436 per week in take home pay and gains £92 a week in tax credits.
Stop reading the Mail/Express and use your own brain for a change.
Well said imo even if there’s scope in your maths lol but generally your very correct
Could not agree more and if you get full pay for being sick why go to work especially when the sun is shining.
Completely agree . I worked through the pandemic even got clapped and did not pick up anything. Now I’ve just tested positive and what do we get £79:48, it’s laughable. Take away their sick pay privileges they’ll soon return back to work believe me.
When are you going to realise its not sickness it is a lack of qualified staff that are leaving for jobs with better pay and working hours. Total mismanagement by people who have taken massive bonuses and imposed shift patterns on the staff that are unsociable to say the least.
And was this not known to you when you voted to alienate our closest trading partners and make European workers about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit?
Or the inconvenient truth that foreign workers are doubling or trebling their pay over here while indigenous folks aren’t able to afford the steep living costs combined with low pay in the land of their ancestry? Just a passing thought.
Tell, me, then, why Red Funnel are employing those “lazy British workers” instead of the East Europeans they used to?
I think the real reason is a company who was happy to take furlough, if they did, suddenly find when they have to stand on their own two feet, “Oh dear, we laid off too many staff.” And I often find, particularly bus drivers, if it’s a nice day, “Oh dear, I’m sick. I can’t come into work.”
Expect this until September.
Announce another festival, they will have staff crawling out of the woodwork, and will be laying on extra crossings.
The answer is Red Tunnel
The prices of their crossing is absolute disgusting it’s a wonder family’s can afford to come here it really is .
so they are making a fortune but like all greedy bas***ds want it all to themselves and stakeholder etc .
