Emergency services have been called to another road traffic collision this afternoon (Sunday), this time on The Middle Road near to Calbourne Watermill.
Police, Fire and Ambulance crews are on the scene where an eyewitness has described a small car being on its roof in the ‘S’ bends near to the Watermill.
Isle of Wight Ambulance Service was called to the incident just before 17:30.
The road has been closed in both directions between Chessel and Newbridge with cars diverting locally.
UPDATE @ 17:55 – Southern Vectis’ bus route 27 at 17:45 is currently stuck at Westover Lodge Farm bus stop and is unable to proceed through Calbourne towards Newport.
Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised two fire appliances, one from Freshwater and the other from Newport, although stood down en route, no action was taken.
UPDATE @ 18:05 – Southern Vectis anticipates that the 17:45 Route 27 Calbourne-Newport will be underway at approx 18:10. They also thank customers for their patience and understanding.
UPDATE @ 18:45 – Upon the arrival of the paramedics, two occupants of the overturned vehicle, removed themselves without the need of assistance from the fire service.
Both people have been taken to St. Marys Hospital as a precautionary measure.
