Wightlinks car ferry service between Fishbourne and Portsmouth is suffering from significant delays due to a medical emergency onboard one of its boats.
St Clare has been stuck at the Fishbourne terminal for over an hour according to readers and 2 sister vessels are stuck at sea as a result.
Wightlink are advising of delays but have not been specific about the length or when service will resume as normal.
UPDATE @ 14:30 – The medical emergency has now been resolved and service has resumed with delays of around 80 minutes.

Same last Friday. ……
What same person?
Twice in 3 days. Last Friday’s medical emergency caused delays (my sailing left Fishbourne an hour late), and now this one causing delays of 80 minutes. Clearly Wightlink has no contingency plan in place for medical emergencies.
Yes, just chuck ’em overboard.
Love to know what plan you have in mind…
What do you suggest they do with someone who needs medical attention and is on board a ship when the ship is in berth.
Take the ship out of berth so can keep running other ships and then if an ambulance turns up tell them to wait until finished unloading and loading a ship?
Take a potentially critically injured person off a ship and do more damage to them?
Unfortunately there is no alternative and the patients wellbeing has to be a priority unless want a death on their hands.
Idiot.
I’ll tell you all now, the ambulance service has been mega busy today stacking calls causing delays…delaying wightlink.
MEANWHILE,,, several ambulance paramedics were sat in offices whilst road staff were overwhelmed with calls. Apparently paperwork is more important than patients.
You can back up this assertion with evidence, I assume?
Hope the people involved are ok and safr
I hope whoever is involved got treated and is ok.
