Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance doctors have rushed to the scene of a medical emergency in East Cowes this lunchtime (Friday), joining colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service at a residential address.
2 ambulances and an enhanced care doctor – and now the helimed crew – are in attendance on Gort Road.
The helicopter has landed at nearby Victoria Grove recreation Park, touching down at 13:00 having been alerted to the life or death situation at around 12:40.
Medics are working on the casualty, who is thought to have suffered a cardiac arrest. They have been transferred to 1 of the awaiting ambulances.
UPDATE @ 14:55 – Efforts have proven successful and the patient is now being flown to Queen Alexandra Hospital by the air ambulance.
The Portsmouth hospital is a specialist cardiac centre.

People are quick to comment when they get it wrong and aye, alot of room for improvement but in all seriousness, they do save lives too and that is our health service; my hat goes up to those involved here, dedicating themselves to this job, do run and be under literal pressure; it’s a matter of life and death in their profession and paramedics dont get enough recognition because they too have to suffer the arduous cut backs and watch as their profession is being cramped and crippled by the economy but from my heart good job, another life is saved, and that should be spoken of more
