A man in his 20s has been hospitalised with injuries to his head and face following an assault in Newport during the early hours of this morning (Friday).
As first reported by Island Echo, Police have cordoned off the entrance to the Travelodge hotel on Lugley Street as investigations into the incident progress.
It has been confirmed that Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary deployed officers at just gone 01:38.
Blood splatter is evident on the pavement directly outside the main doors to the national hotel chain, with guests being directed to use a side entrance.
It’s said the man’s injuries are not life-threatening.
Enquiries remain ongoing at this time. No arrests have been made.

Who mentioned if the gentleman was staying at the establishment, he may have been walking past on his way home. It coincidently happened outside the main entrance, so has been cordoned off as it is now a crime scene. Don’t make judgements when you don’t have all the facts.
