A man in his 20s has suffered a head injury following a late night assault in Newport, which led to a road being cordoned off overnight.
As first reported by Island Echo, Police taped off Lugley Street between Post Office Lane and Mill Street following an incident outside the Travelodge hotel.
It has now been confirmed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary that they were called at 22:33 last night (Thursday) to reports of an assault.
A local man in his 20s suffered a head injury but thankfully his injuries are not considered serious.
Island Echo is told that the male was found in an unconscious state and bleeding from his head.
No arrests have been made at this time but enquiries remain ongoing.
Cordons have been lifted in the area this morning.
Total scum kicking a man in the head while he is down. Remember what goes around, comes around. Karma.
Terrible thing to do, love island, not.
Of course this don’t happen any where else in the country !!

It was very rare here, not anymore very sad. When I lived in Ventnor this happened outside a pub on Christmas Eve and the man who was attacked died. Drunken people don’t realise how their actions can get out of control.
Karma is just gutless, frightened people’s way of trying to fool themselves and others, that the growing amount of crime and low life ‘will’ pay the price, when the hard to accept for some, truth is they will have a far better life than most doing a 9 till 5, by spreading clones to every dim available womb, always having a ‘free’ house to live, and spend each day doing what ‘they’ not a boss pleases.
I know people want to hear something ‘beautiful’ rather than face facts, hence ‘Karma’ fools will get the most thumbs up, No matter the truth is ALL that counts.
