A vehicle has been badly damaged and a man has been detained by Police following an incident in Shanklin this evening (Saturday).
Officers responded at speed to Clarence Gardens off Arthur’s Hill at around 19:45.
It’s in the quiet residential street where they have found significant damage to a parked Rover.
Glass has been left shattered across the carriageway as a result of a male smashing out the windows of the car. The windscreen and wing mirrors have also been damaged.
A man has since been detained by Police and placed into the rear of a cell van.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has been called to the scene as the incident is being treated as mental health related.
