A 51-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman at an address in Newport earlier this year will face no further action. It has been confirmed that the male is no longer subject to a Police investigation as detectives are no longer treating the death of a woman in her 50s as suspicious. As first reported by Island Echo, at around 12:30 on 12th June, officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary discovered the body of a woman at an address on Woodbine Close. Come that afternoon, Police had arrested a 51-year-old man who was known to the deceased female on suspicion of committing her murder. Later that week the woman’s body was removed from the property following an initial forensic examination of the suspected crime scene. As investigations continued the 51-year-old was released on bail, with that bail extended from September to December. Police have now confirmed that he has been released from investigation and will see no further action taken against him. A spokesperson from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“The circumstances of the woman’s death are not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner”.
