Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery which took place at Tesco Express in Lake on Monday.
At around 22:40, a man entered the Tesco store on Lake Hill before threatening staff and demanding money.
Staff refused and the man, who was carrying a screwdriver in one hand and a bottle in the other, left the store.
Nothing was stolen.
The man is described as white, between 5ft 8ins and 6ft tall, of slight build with mousy brown hair.
He was described as wearing black tracksuit bottoms with coloured strips down the side, a black hoodie and black gloves.
Police believe there were other people shopping in the store at the time of this incident and officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.

UPDATE MONDAY – A 28-year-old man has now been arrested, questioned and released pending further investigation.
Officers arrested the man, of no fixed adobe, on suspicion of robbery. He was also arrested on suspicion of another count of robbery, attempted robbery, burglary, attempted burglary and attempted theft of a motor vehicle – all related to other offences away from Tesco Express.
All staff in these small out o the way shops need to be issued body cams.word would soon get around!! So few staff on duty usua!ly.sitting targets sprigs to mind.

Joan, you are of course correct. Many just grow dope, or sell it for those who do, whilst claiming rent and council tax, and being a single parent, maximising tax credits and benefits, whilst doing a cash in hand job.
