A large-scale power cut has wiped out the East Wight this morning (Saturday), affecting 141 postcodes.
Postcode areas PO35 and PO36 have been affected by outages experienced in Bembridge, Yaverland and some surrounding areas.
Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) say that the power cut was first reported at 09:45 and it is anticipated that supplies will be restored by 13:00.
Homes and businesses from neighbouring towns and villages have also been reporting surges in their supplies.
A spokesperson for SSEN has apologised for the loss of power:
“We’re sorry for the loss of supply.
“We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.
“Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.
“If you need more information, please call us on 105 or send us a message on Facebook or Twitter (@ssencommunity) and quote reference ‘KA6775′”
