HM Coastguard tasked 2 Isle of Wight Coastguard Rescue Teams yesterday (Thursday) to reports of a collision in the Solent involving a yacht.
Whilst Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team was on coastal safety patrol at Cowes Week, the patrol team were tasked at 12:55 to meet with RNLI Calshot Lifeboat following a collision in the Solent.
The volunteer lifeboat crew located the damaged vessel and brought it back to the island where they met Ventnor alongside Needles Coastguard Rescue Team who were also paged.
Coastguard Rescue Officers checked over the occupants of the yacht and were all found to be safe and well.
The yacht was lifted out of the water for repairs.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
