Ryde Inshore Rescue, HM Coastguard and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service all responded to an emergency at Ryde Pier tonight (Friday).
At just before 22:30, Ryde Rescue 2 lifeboat was launched from Appley and made best speed along the coastline to nearby Ryde Pier, where a woman was reported to be in the water.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were also tasked to the incident.
Just a short while later, the incident was quickly resolved and the woman was taken to the safety of Ryde Pier Head.
Island Echo understands a local man located the woman and pulled her from the water.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service rendezvoused with Coastguards and the volunteer lifeboat crew at the wet end of the pier, where a cold and wet casualty was taken onboard the ambulance for assessment.

What was she doing, how did she happen to be in the sea?
Why would you even be in the water, in the dark at that time of night………. nobody say because it was hot! Yes it was, extremely, but really, what a stupid thing to do. Perhaps alcohol clouded her judgement….or not!!!!
Wet end of the pier lol
How do you fall off a pier? Very odd to do so in normal circumstances lucky to be rescued
Wrong yet again mr toogood
What about the member of the public that pulled her to safety
