3 people who were cut off by the tide at Luccombe this evening (Saturday) have been rescued by Sandown and Shanklin’s Inshore Lifeboat.
The crew from Sandown launched shortly after 20:30 to assist 3 members of the public, who had become stranded.
They were assisted in their efforts by the Ventnor Coastguard Rescue team.
At around 21:15 the casualties were safely recovered back to the shore at Shanklin by the Inshore Lifeboat.
They have sustained no serious injuries.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.

Why can’t these idiots check the tide times before going to out of the way places! You can see clearly where the high tide reaches on any beach. Irresponsible people.
They aren’t idiots perhaps their phones were dead you numnut
Two words, Tide table.
Should be made to give a decent donation to them as only support Ed by public donations
Unless they’ve fallen away Luccombe had steps up to the cliff path and Smugglers haven.
Us locals who pay their wages and pensions and expenses and private cars etc for the bloated Council count for nothing.
Hence the footpath and steps down to the beach have been left to fall into ruin risking lives
Yet we are funding ethnic children who decide to impose themselves on the UK so I suppose something had to give.
I know which I’d prefer
Grockles who don’t understand the tides!
I hope they weren’t island residents who really should have known the area better!! Although maybe the ‘out of use’ steps haven’t been widely published to unknown walkers.
Dear Echo, I do think you should delete/ban/not allow foul and aggressive language on this site. And I think people should have the guts to use their proper names rather than all these silly aliases, therefore being accountable for the things they say.
Ms Hardy, Echo does remove offensive worded posts, but disagree that people should use full names etc, as just because what someone else says on here you may find ‘offensive’, doesn’t necessarily make that comment untrue.
So, the more volatile cretins in our society could trace and harm anyone who they strongly disagree with.
It is fine as it is.
Please don’t give any more ammunition to those desperate to take away ‘freedom of speech’ or opinions.
I hate swearing on here, but truth is EVERY primary school some low lives child will use such daily.
Careful what you wish for.
