# Life as a Boarder: My Experience at College
As a boarder studying in the UK at Cherwell College Oxford www.cherwell-college.co.uk, which is a sixth form college, I’ve had the opportunity to experience a rich and diverse student life that has helped me grow both academically and personally. Living in the boarding house has given me a sense of community and belonging that I wouldn’t have found otherwise. Here’s a glimpse into what my life as a boarder at Cherwell College has been like:
# Extracurricular Activities
One of the best things about the College life has been the abundance of extracurricular activities available to me. From sports teams to music sessions to debate clubs and visiting Oxford Union (which is my favourite place) thanks to Cherwell College, along with great online courses, there’s something for everyone. I’ve been able to explore my interests and passions, and I’ve made some great friends along the way.
# Enrichment Talks
Another highlight of the College life has been the opportunity to attend talks with Oxford tutors on a wide range of subjects. Whether I’m a fan of the particular subject or just want to delve deeper into a subject to benefit from it with my GCSE subject or a future A-level/EPQ project, the tutors have been incredibly professional and engaging. They’ve challenged me to think critically and creatively, and they’ve helped me develop the skills I need to succeed academically.
# Exciting Events
The College life is never dull, thanks to the many exciting events that take place throughout the year: Art Weeks was the major one in 2023. From guest speakers like Ken Singer from Berkeley Uni to cultural festivals to charity fundraisers like the one we did for UA animals, there’s always something going on. These events have allowed me to broaden my horizons, learn about different cultures and perspectives, and give back to the community.
# Strong Academic Support
Perhaps the most important aspect of my Cherwell College experience so far has been the strong academic support I’ve received. With one-on-one classes and small group sessions, I’ve been able to get the help I need to succeed academically. The tutors and staff here are always available to answer questions, provide feedback (whether you are dealing with an Edexcel, AQA, OCR, or any other board) and offer guidance so that one achieves the best result possible. They’ve helped me develop the skills I need to excel in my studies and prepare for my future career.
Overall, my experience as a boarder at Cherwell College has been incredibly enriching and rewarding. I’ve had the opportunity to explore my interests, make new friends, and develop the skills I need to succeed in life. I’m grateful for the support and guidance of my tutors and the college staff, and I’m excited to see where my journey at Cherwell will take me next.
