Students leaving Christ the King College sixth Form have raised £500 for the Joe Ellis Trust Fund.
The “Unofficial” leavers’ party, held on Friday in a marquee in the garden of Cllr Chris Whitehouse, who represents the ward of Newport West in which the College is located and at which Joe Ellis was a student, raised £500. It has all been donated to the Fund.
Speaking today, Cllr Whitehouse says:
“It was a pleasure and a privilege to host this party for the fine young men and women of Christ the King’s first ever sixth form leavers group. A truly raucous time was had by all, and the food that Emily Snow organised for the guests was splendid. It seemed very appropriate that the revenue was donated to the Joe Ellis Trust Fund in remembrance of a fellow student who will now never leave the College. Joe touched the lives of so many students, teachers and others involved with the College.”
As the guests left for the evening, Cllr Whitehouse was heard to remark:
“Go now, have a good life, and I’ll see you in the next.” Commenting today, Cllr Whitehouse explained “The purpose of a Christian education is not only to fit its students for this life, but also to prepare them for a good death and the eternal life that follows.”
