This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 4th November – Friday 8th November 2024
• Kristian Venn, 44, of Benett Street, Ryde pleaded guilty to drug driving (cocaine), drug driving (BZE), drug driving (cannabis). He was handed a 12-month driving ban and made subject to a 18-month community order with 25 rehabilitation days attached. He was ordered to pay £50 costs.
Separately, Venn pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis) and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He was handed a 24-month driving ban, fined £120 and ordered to pay £350 costs with a £114 surcharge.
• Joshua Begg, 21, of 4 Birch Gardens, Binstead pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified, possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis), drug driving (cannabis) and driving without insurance. He was banned from driving for 3 years and made subject to an 18-month community order with 10 rehabilitation days and 100 hours of unpaid work attached. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge.
• Simon North, 50, of Shore Road, Bonchurch pleaded guilty to harassment without violence. He was made subject to a 12-month community order with 25 rehabilitation days and 75 hours of unpaid work attached. He was also handed a 12-month restraining order and ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Paula Wagstaff, 38, of Downsview, Sandown pleaded guilty to assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm. She was made subject to an 18-month community order with 25 rehabilitation days and 100 hours of unpaid work attached. She was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge.
• Ivy King, 24, of High Street, Ventnor pleaded guilty to drink driving (77). She was banned from driving for 17 months, fined £350 and ordered to pay £50 costs with a £140 surcharge.
• Vanessa Richardson, 68, of New Road, Brading pleaded guilty to drink driving (71). She was banned from driving for 17 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £48 surcharge.
