Monday 23rd October – Friday 27th October 2023
• Ben Cooney, 25, of East Cowes Road, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was handed an 18-month community order with 40 rehabilitation activity days attached. He was also ordered to pay a fine of £180, costs of £300, and a £114 surcharge fee. • Andrew Downard, 29 of Culver Parade in Sandown pleaded guilty to 8x counts of theft, 1x fail to provide, 1x burglary and 1x attempted burglary. Downard was sentenced to a 16-week prison sentence. Downard was ordered to pay £89.20 compensation. • Nina Hoskins, 38, of Green Street in Ryde, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. She was fined £120 and ordered to pay compensation of £15.50. She was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge fee. • Iain Stott, 49, Military Road in Brighstone, pleaded guilty to drink driving. He was handed a 12-month community order with 60 hours of unpaid work attached. He was banned from driving for 22 months. He was also ordered to pay costs of £300 and a £114 surcharge fee. • Paul Barton, 36, of Main Road in Havenstreet, pleaded guilty to using violence to secure entry to a premises. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay a surcharge fee of £48. • Ashley Whitestone, 36, 0f Blackwater Road in Newport, pleaded guilty to in charge of a motor vehicle – alcohol level above limit. He was fined £450 and saw his licence endorsed with 10 penalty points. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £180 surcharge fee. • Shane Upton, 28, of HMP Isle of Wight, was found guilty of assault by beating of an emergency worker and assault person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm. Already a serving prisoner, Upton was sentenced to a further 26 weeks imprisonment. • Trevor Momanyi, 22, of Nunwell Street in Sandown, was found guilty of drink driving and failing to surrender to police. He was banned from driving for 12-months and fined £519. For the offence of failing to surrender, he was fined £115. He was ordered to pay costs of £300. • Robert Godley, 42, of Manor Crescent, pleaded guilty to 2x counts of drug driving. He was handed an 18-month community order and banned from the roads for a period of 18-months. He was ordered to pay costs of £85. • Perry Masters, 40, of Cross Lane in Newport, pleaded guilty to 3x theft from a shop and assault by beating. He was handed a 12-month community order with a 9-month alcohol treatment requirement and 20 rehabilitation activity days. He was ordered to pay compensation of £500. • Karl McCrudden, 34, of Atkinson Drive in Newport, pleaded guilty to 2x drug driving and driving without insurance. He was disqualified for 12 months and fined £120. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge fee. • William Davies, 22, of Yarborough Road in East Cowes, pleaded guilty to drug driving. He was handed a 12 month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work attached. He has been banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £114 surcharge fee. • Robert McAmley, 41 of Barton Road in Newport, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. He was given an 8 week custodial period and ordered to pay compensation of £205. • Richard Sullivan, 48, of Royal Street in Sandown, pleaded guilty to 3x counts of thefts. He sentenced to 6 months in prison suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £296.83.
