This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 23rd August – Friday 27th August 2021
• Keelan Hobbs, 21, of no fixed abode, was handed a 2-year community order for sending malicious communications, causing harassment, alarm or distress and criminal damage. He was also made subject to a restraining order for the same period, as well as being ordered to pay £150 costs with a £95 surcharge.
• Scott Mitchell, 22, of Nelson Street in Ryde admitted breaching a community order. The existing order was varied with 140 hours of unpaid work added. He was also ordered to pay costs of £60.
• Matthew Rawson, 35, of Garden Way in Newport, admitting breaching the community requirement of a suspended sentence. It was decided the order should continue but Rawson was fined £50.
• Jennifer Huskinson, 25, of Union Road in Ryde, was found guilty of assault by beating and pleaded guilty to sending a grossly offensive/menacing electronic community. She was made subject to a 12-month community order with a 12-week curfew and 20 rehabilitation days. She was also made subject to a restraining order for 12 months and ordered to pay £20 compensation, £200 costs and a £95 surcharge.
• Luke Adam Charles Burdett, 28, of Blackgang Road in Niton was given a 26-week prison sentence for 3 breaches of a non-molestation order. There was no separate penalty for driving without insurance, driving without a licence and possession of a Class A drug. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128.
• Brendan Watt, 38, of Granville Road in Totland pleaded guilty to harassment without violence, breach of a restraining order and racially/religiously aggravated harassment without violence. He was sentenced to 15 weeks in prison, suspended for 24 months, with 25 rehabilitation days. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 with a surcharge of £128.
• Rio Scott, 26, of St Johns Road in Ryde admitted 2 charges of using threatening/abusive/insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was fined £150, ordered to pay £50 compensation and costs of £85 with a £34 surcharge.
• Benjamin Griffiths, 24, of Fitzroy Street in Sandown pleaded guilty to 4 charges of drug driving – namely cocaine and cannabis. He was disqualified from driving for 3 years and ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85.
• Alexander Hill, 21, of St Margarets Glade in Ventnor admitted assault by beating and was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work with 20 rehabilitation days as part of a 6-month community order. He was also ordered to pay £300 costs with a £95 surcharge.
• Rachele Moss, 51, of Great Preston Road in Ryde pleaded guilty to 12 charges of theft from a shop. She was made subject to a community order for 2 years with 10 rehabilitation days attached. She was ordered to pay £1,254.17 in compensation which will be taken in £20 instalments from her benefits.
• Ashley King, 28, of Laughton Road in Ringmer, East Sussex pleaded guilty to drink driving. He was disqualified from driving for 40 months, fined £461 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £95 surcharge.
• Joseph Barrass (also known as Joseph Baker), 27, of George Street in Ryde pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance. The case was committed to the Crown Court on 20th September due to his previous convictions for the same offences.





























































































That matt rawson one is a absolute joke!! He broke his order so send the waste of space to jail! He on a suspended sentence!!! He will do it again if ya just give him a little fine!! Jokers!!
How lenient. You do not get any punishment for driving with no licence or insurance and possessing a Class A drug because you are guilty of 3 breaches of a non molestation order !
