This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 14th October – Friday 18th October 2024
• Liam Trott, 31, of Langbridge, Newchurch pleaded guilty drug driving (cannabis). He was banned for 12 months and fined £120, as well as being ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Timothy Saunders, 29, of Heathfield Road, Freshwater pleaded guilty to 6x theft from a shop and failing to surrender to bail. He was ordered to pay £408 compensation and was made subject to a 2-year conditional discharge.
• Bailey Smith, 24, of No Fixed Abode, pleaded guilty to 2x criminal damage and being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £125 compensation.
• Adam Jepson, 20, of Bedhampton Hill, Havant pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class A – Cocaine. He was ordered to pay a £120 fine and £85 costs.
• Ruslan Ciobanu, 44, of Merstone Lane, Arreton pleaded guilty to drink driving (53). He was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £172 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £69 surcharge.
• Jordan Jude, 27, of Parkway, Apse Heath pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. He was handed a 12-month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 10 rehabilitaiton days attached. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge.
• Michael Clifton-Smith, 36, of High Street, Ventnor pleaded guilty to persistently make use of public communication network to cause annoyance / inconvenience / anxiety and individual failing to comply with a community protection notice. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £80 surcharge.
• Neville Sheen, 52, of Oakvale, Ryde pleaded guilty to 2x assault by beating of an emergency worker and being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He was made subject to a 12-month community order with 10 rehabilitation days and a 12-month alcohol treatment requirement attached. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation.
• Jennifer May-Cunningham, 38, of Pembroke Crescent, Hove pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug of Class B – Cannabis and criminal damage. She was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £26 surcharge. She was also handed a 6-month conditional discharge.
• Roland Tomlin, 47, of Terminus Road, Cowes pleaded guilty to theft from a shop. He was handed a 2-week custodial sentence. He was ordered to pay £46.28 compensation.
• Gary Dauncey, 53, of Carisbrooke High Street, Newport pleaded guilty to using threatening / abusive / insulting words / behaviour to cause harassment / alarm / distress, fraud by false representation and theft from a shop. He was handed a 4-week custodial sentence and ordered to pay £194.99 compensation.
• Laurence Marsden, 25, of Bernard Road, Cowes pleaded guilty to criminal damage and using threatening/abusive/insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was made subject to a 12-month community order with 10 rehabilitation days attached. He ordered to pay £200 compensation.
What a bunch of misfits.
So many druggies on this island and uneducated
thugs who use abusive language to law abiding citizens.
Lock them up and throw away the key.
Loose cannons are not safe to be on our streets.
The island deserves better.
