Local fish and chip shop Lake Fish Bar is to close next month after serving the community for over 2 decades.
In a post on their Facebook page, it has been announced that the owners of the family-run business have made the ‘incredibly difficult decision’ to close the popular takeaway as they feel it is what’s best for their recently expanded family.
Opened over 20 years ago, the chippy has served The Bay area since 2000 and has been a hit among locals ever since.
Chelsie and her husband Andy took over the running of the business after Chelsie’s dad, Nigel, passed away. They have been running the business for just over a year.
As a result of the closure, the nearest fish and chip shop for Lake residents will be in either Sandown or Shanklin.
A spokesperson for Lake Fish Bar has said:
“We would like to thank all the staff who have helped us keep the business running, but most of all we’d like to thank each and every customer who supported us since 2000, it really has meant the world to us all.”
The chip shop will open for the final day on Saturday 2nd September. Some items will not be restocked as the closure date gets closer.

The highlight of an evening in growing up, nigel did great fish and chips and he loved his customers. I am sorry its closing but I wish the lovely couple an enriching venture with whatever it is they will be doing. Much love to you both and the family <3

I find this concept rather funny actually. They will be grafting just not serving fish and chips, so which is it, your not getting your fav chippy or is it that your jealous that someone was handed a buisness and somehow arent successful because there not “carrying the tradition”. Woe to you, nigel is proud of them and the kind of man he was he was genuine and loved his family so he wouldnt mind as long as they were happy… shame
