Youths have been blamed for yet more vandalism at Shanklin Football Club, with the names of 2 local lads passed to the Police.
The club, located off Green Lane, has been experiencing criminal damage in recent months with teenagers breaking into a storage container, climbing on the roof of the clubhouse and now, the ground’s dugouts have been smashed up.
A group of youths, thought to be aged between 14 and 16-year-olds, were spotted carrying out the vandalism in broad daylight yesterday evening (Sunday).
The club says that the incident has been reported to the Police with photos and the names of 2 boys handed in.
In a statement, Shanklin FC has said:
“If you are driving past or walking near the County Ground and see anyone causing damage can you please message this page.
“Everybody at the football club is a volunteer giving up their time to try and create a safe environment for the local community to play and watch football its a real shame that the actions of a small number of individuals try to ruin this”.

Bring back the birch.
And borstal that would sort them out
They should be made an example of…..no ifs or buts!
Little rats can we go round there gaff and smash up there mums house
Bring back the public stocks. I bet they would wee themselves in public if they were put into public stocks for all to see and to laugh at.
Years ago, townsfolk would bring their rotten vegetables and ‘stuff’. Reading in history books about stuff, I’ve always wondered whether this may have been horse/cow manure or even human? Imagine that, eh?
Time to bring back the stocks, and the birch. Make the parents pay.
There is so much of this going on. Maybe if the parents were made to pay for damage each time their little darlings vandalised something they would be a bit more proactive in their parenting. Or maybe the culprits could be made to repair the vandalism under supervision, a bit of hard work may put them off doing it again.
